Does the weight shown apply to the exact size I am buying?

ALS-COFFEE-1.2-NETQ-001

This question matters to a buyer and CANNOT be answered from a public product page today. What would be required is stated in full.

Why this cannot be run

Blocked by G-12.

Assertion

net_quantity_for_selected_offer is_stated true

Applicability

applies when
the product page sells more than one purchasable size
signal
more than one variant with distinct option values

Accepted evidence

  • product_options — a net quantity resolved per purchasable offer, either in the option value itself or in per-offer structured data

Explicitly insufficient evidence

What does not count, and why. Published because the omission is where a check quietly becomes a claim.

  • a weight in the page title on a multi-size page
The classic false pass: the title says twelve ounces while the selected variant is five pounds, and the title is a quotable evidence surface so a check credits it.
  • the first or the largest weight on the page
Option order is arbitrary and the most prominent size is often the best-value one the seller wants to feature, so neither is the buyer's offer.
  • a subscription or bundle offer's values applied to the single-bag offer
Those are different offers at different quantities, and conflating them misstates what the buyer receives.
  • group-level structured data inherited from one representative variant
A product-group node describes the group, and its values were taken from whichever variant happened to populate them.
  • a sold-out variant included in the resolution
A size offered but unbuyable is not what the buyer receives.

Conflict rules

  • When no default selection is determinable — then report the claim as ambiguous across offers rather than resolving it to any one size; there is currently no result state for that, which is part of what blocks this entry

Discrimination

Authored expectation: no prediction, confidence low. The numeric band this standard used to carry is not published at this grammar version.

Multi-size coffee pages are common and per-offer quantity resolution is rare, so a real split is likely among the pages this applies to. The band excludes single-offer pages, where the question does not arise.

The numeric fail-rate band this reasoning was authored with is NOT carried at grammar 1.2 and is not reproduced here. Authored bands held 1 of 10 against this category's own sample and every miss was HIGH, so a direction derived from the band would inherit the error that condemned it (SCHEMA.md §9.3 step 3). The band survives in ALS-COFFEE v1.1 (standard_hash f8ec2780f60c38931913e5b6cd37506500c8462709209de7180ba6691d6137e7), which is byte-frozen and still served.

For a shopper

On a page selling several bag sizes, the weight in the title belongs to one of them and not necessarily the one you selected. This is how a price comparison silently goes wrong by a factor of several.

For a merchant

Carry the net quantity in each purchasable option value or in per-offer structured data, so the weight travels with the offer rather than sitting once at page level.

Grounding

  • EU Regulation 1169/2011, Article 14(1)(a) (legal_instrument)
that mandatory particulars other than the durability date must be available before the purchase is concluded, which for a multi-offer page means available for the offer actually being purchased rather than for the page in general
  • Independent refuting pass, live search-intent retrieval (internal_measurement)
that cost transparency including net weight sits in the verified shopper-driven core, which is what makes per-offer resolution a buyer concern rather than a data-modelling nicety
