What does this cost per kilogram, so I can compare it with another bag?

Why this cannot be run

Assertion
price_per_unit_mass derived_from (derived — see below)
- rule
- price divided by net mass for the same offer
Applicability
- applies when
- the product is coffee sold by mass with a readable price
- signal
- a readable price and a readable net quantity for the same offer
Accepted evidence
- variant_price — a price for the offer, in the same currency and tax treatment as the selling price
- product_description — a net quantity for the same offer, from which the unit price is computable
Explicitly insufficient evidence
What does not count, and why. Published because the omission is where a check quietly becomes a claim.
- value language such as "great value" or "cheaper than your coffee shop"
No arithmetic is available, so nothing can be compared. - a price per pod or per serving
Dose per capsule varies by roughly a factor of two across systems, so a per-item rate is not a rate per unit mass. - a rate computed on gross or shipping weight
Those include packaging and are systematically high, so the derived figure is wrong in a direction that flatters the seller. - a rate computed on the wrong variant
The classic case is the large size's better rate displayed against a small-size selection, which is exactly the comparison the buyer is trying to make. - a rate derived from a strikethrough or reference price
A price the seller never charged cannot be the basis of a cost comparison.
Conflict rules
- When the net quantity cannot be attributed to the priced offer — then refuse to derive a figure rather than computing one from mismatched inputs; a derived number reads as more authoritative than the sentence it came from
Discrimination
Predicted fail rate: 30-70% (predicted, not yet measured)
Both inputs are individually common and their attribution to the same offer is not, so the derived assertion should fail materially more often than either input alone. Any derived value inherits every weakness of its inputs, and the net-quantity input has pinned defects, so this is the entry most likely to produce a confidently wrong number.
For a shopper
Price per kilogram is the only way to compare two bags of different sizes, and it is the figure most often missing. If the page shows a price and a weight you can divide them yourself, provided both belong to the size you selected.
For a merchant
Display the unit price alongside the selling price for each purchasable size, computed on net mass in the same currency and tax treatment as the price shown.
Grounding
- EU Directive 98/6/EC on the indication of prices of products offered to consumers (legal_instrument)
that both the selling price and the unit price must be indicated for products sold by mass, making unit price a regulated consumer-facing disclosure rather than a convenience
