What does not count, and why. Published because the omission is where a check quietly becomes a claim.

  • "may contain traces of"
    Precautionary wording is voluntary and is not the declaration the rule requires, so a check that accepts it treats a hedge as a disclosure.
  • "dairy-free", "gluten-free", "vegan"
    These are free-from and lifestyle claims governed by different rules; none is an allergen declaration and vegan says nothing about cross-contact.
  • "naturally flavoured" with no carrier named
    Flavour systems commonly carry milk derivatives, and the word natural excludes nothing.
  • "processed in a facility that also handles nuts"
    A facility statement describes the plant rather than this product.
  • "allergens: none" on a flavoured product with no readable ingredient list
    An unverifiable negative, and the shape most likely to be scored as a complete disclosure.
  • the absence of emphasis in scraped text
    Emphasis is legally required inside an EU ingredient list, and stripped markup loses it — so a page can be compliant while the extracted text is not evidently so, which a check must not report as a defect.

Name the regulated allergen inside the ingredient declaration with the emphasis the rule requires, on the product page and per variant, rather than in a separate reassurance sentence.
